On September 26th, 1975, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW opened in Westwood, California. The musical comedy/horror film was a parody of the science fiction and B horror films of the 1930’s through the 1960’s. The film is a mix of Frankenstein and sex and rock and roll. Starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick and Richard O’Brien, the film was critically panned and generally a flop in theatres. However, it soon became a midnight movie and generated a cult following. The movie has continued in limited runs since 1975 and is the longest theatrical release in history!
